Dora's Experience
How it affects you and how you can avoid it.
Dora had important needs to cater for.
And the bills kept piling up.
From feeding....
To utilities.....
To rent which needed to be renewed soon.
It was frustrating.
She had tried so hard to save up for all of these basic needs but she was finding it difficult to meet up because sales were slow and she had just recently recovered from an emergency that had cost her so much money.
First of all, who is Dora?
Dora is a vendor selling feminine footwear and accessories.
She had an offline store and began to use social media to display her products five months ago when the emergency hit.
Her neighbour Lana was an expert when it comes to social media and she was constantly singing into Dora's eardrums that "going digital is the new gold".
Dora ignored Lana for a long while but when the emergency happened, she decided to also jump on the 'digital train' and it's been five months down the line but her reality still wasn't in tandem with what Lana proclaimed.
What was Dora’s problem?
1.She did not begin with social listening.
2.She was yet to create a visible customer avatar or a properly defined buyer persona.
3.Her choice of grammar.
4.She was slothful at content creation and wasn't conversant with the various content formats.
5.She ignorant of analytics or algorithm changes that could affect content reach and engagement rates.
6.She did not ask for help.
7.She needed time to grow her online presence.
Just like Dora, a lot of online vendors are faced with similar challenges.
In subsequent mails, I'll be writing detailed explanations about each challenge that Dora faced and how anyone can overcome them.
Keep your fingers crossed.
I bet you'll learn a lot from this.
