I've missed you!
It's been quite a long while...
Hey👋
My sudden exit and abrupt silence was unplanned but essential.
Let me tell you a little about it.
I guess you've probably come across the word "content fatigue".
Or probably you haven't.
I'll explain.
The term ‘content fatigue’ generally describes the exhaustion we get from being surrounded by new content at all times and the struggle to keep up with it.
…but have you ever experienced ‘content fatigue’ as a creator?
It actually refers to a period/point where the content writer becomes exhausted (can be mentally, physically or both) and is therefore unable to create content furthermore.
It’s an unpleasant feeling that shows up when you spend weeks, months, or even years thinking/talking/writing about the same topic.
If left unaddressed, it can morph into burnout—and you might eventually even want, or need, to quit jobs or clients over it.
I got there a month ago.
This was because I had to increase the volume of content I consumed due to the deep research I was undertaking to arm myself with the accurate information required for the jobs at hand.
I became saturated and overwhelmed by the bulk of information I was expected to give out within a specified time.
The content consumed became too heavy for my system to properly digest because there was no proper outlet to dispense the information gathered.
I ended up with a mental and physical breakdown.
This is one reason why I had to take a break to get some little rest and recuperate.
And because I'm concerned about you and will not want you to experience such a scenario, here are few tips to help you avoid content fatigue.
1.Unplug:take quick breaks when writing.
2.Find different angles to keep it fresh(a blend of brand storytelling, humour ,newsjacking etc).
3.Leverage user generated content wisely.
4.Collaborate with others.
5.Find motivation in the goals your content achieves.
6.Have a creative side project or hobby.
7.Switch between different content formats.
8.Accept content writing roles within your capacity.
I hope you learnt a thing or two from my experience.
Can't wait to see you implementing.
I love you!
